Entries are coming in daily for the annual Carver Half Marathon Events. The organisers are busy checking the course and preparing for Sunday 1st September.
For those new to running there are easy to follow training programmes on our website and advice can be sought from Wolverhampton & Bilston Athletics Club. www.wolvesandbiltonac.co.uk
The alterations made last year to the 20K cycle event were very well received and the 10K cycle event follows the same route as the Banks’s 10K. Hugh Porter and his team of experienced cyclists are happy with the safer course, with new signage, and continue to manage the logistics of the cycling events. Another change this year is the Sponsor. Race Director Mary Harding is delighted to welcome Berriman Eaton on board to sponsor the cycling events.
This year we are introducing the half marathon relay to the events. This will consist of teams of four runners, can be mixed Male & Female who will each run a section of the half marathon route. It is designed to attract those who find the half marathon distance too much. The organisers were delighted when Paycare agreed to become sponsor of the Half Marathon Relay.
The Grand Theatre are now Sponsors of the Children’s Mini Marathon and Banks’s continued Sponsorship of the 10K run is most welcome. Carvers of course are Sponsors of the Half Marathon.
We are grateful to all our Sponsors, who see the importance of being involved with such a big community event in our city.
We need lots of people to come out and take part and support this event. All entry fees go to our nominated charities. This year we will be supporting Compton Care, Wulfrun Hospital Radio, PDSA Wolverhampton, Wolverhampton East District Scouts and The Mayoral Charity Fund.
Information about the Charities and the amazing work they do in the Community can be found on our website www.carverwolverhamptonhalfmarathonevents.co.uk.
SUNDAY 1st SEPTEMBER starting and finishing at West Park.
